A development of the 1979 Williams FW07, 1980's Cosworth-powered FW07B was an aerodynamic phenomenon, harnessing ground effect aerodynamics to dominate that year's championship where Alan Jones was crowned the victor.
Alan Jones is Australia's last Formula One® World Drivers' Champion and the 1977 Can-Am championship winner. His first Formula One® victory came with the Shadow Racing Team in 1977 and over the course of three seasons with the Williams F1 Team between 1979 and 1981 Jones secured 11 victories and 9 podiums, finishing third in the Drivers' Championship in 1979 and 1981 and claiming the crown in 1980 with five wins and five podiums in 14 races. Jones also competed in the BMW M1 Procar series which ran alongside European Formula One® races in 1979 and 1980, finishing second behind Nelson Piquet in 1980.
